The Greek word for Owl is κουκουβάγια, or koukouvágia. In ancient Greek times it was associated with the wisdom of the soul. An owl was depicted sitting on Athenas blind side, so that she may see the whole truth.
Owls are often seen as mysterious, mostly because many owls are strictly nocturnal and humans have always found night to be full of mystery and the unknown. Owls live within the darkness, which includes magic, mystery, and ancient knowledge. Related to the night is the moon, which owls are also connected to. It becomes a symbol of the feminine and fertility, with the moon’s cycles of renewal.
At the end of our long shooting day, just as we were about to pack off and head back to the hotel, we found this rock with beautiful pink flowers behind it, so determined to get one last set shot, I quickly undressed and we took these images, just as the sun was starting to fade. I'm glad I did
